Nettoshop.ch is the largest online store in the household sector in Switzerland and offers over 30,000 different products. The established retailer wanted to expand its online presence and attract more qualified traffic to its website. To achieve this, the untapped potential in the area of search engine optimization was to be realized. Although many top rankings were already in place, nettoshop.ch was lagging behind its competitors for many essential keywords due to a lack of content and structure.
"Simultaneously to the start of the SEO efforts, adjustments to the backend of the website were initiated, which required an extensive restructuring of all categories. This was an opportunity to create a new structure and basis for future SEO efforts and was therefore carried out with great care and dedication. This required significantly more investment in various analyses at the beginning before the SEO campaign visible to end users could be launched."
At the beginning, an extremely extensive research of around 50,000 keywords was undertaken. Based on this, the potential for new categories was determined, all 500 existing categories were optimized and the structure of the family tree was adapted. Only then was the actual SEO campaign launched with a strong focus on content and off-page SEO in order to close the existing gaps.
Following the thorough revision of nettoshop.ch's structure, the course has been set for future SEO efforts. With a dedicated content campaign and focused off-page efforts, nettoshop.ch should now increase its visibility and gain new organic traffic.
